For more than 3 years The Cube Cinema has operated as a pioneering agency in the exhibition and development of local artists' film/video/music and linux computer based projects in the UK. From our Bristol base we have commissioned many projects by local artists. All of these projects have been showcased within the Microplex itself introducing south-west and UK audiences to high quality projects.

But Cube is a lot more than a cinema. Our groundbreaking SPARROR SERVER was the UK's first scrap componet computer server to be installed by the cleaners and toilet attendents working in a cinema. TOOLKIT [online tools, sorry, you must work at the cube to get access], established by Cube Cinema in 1999, provides specialist online resources and support to artists based at the cinema. The MONTHLY PROGRAMME offers a wide selection of training and self-education opportunities in diverse fields from sound engineering, linux application development to floor sweeping and techniques for passing time:let alone the sheer devastating originality and freshness of the content itself.

Our ACTUAL BUILDING FACILITY has enabled hundreds of people to present work in a unique "lab" style environment, often astounding the expectations of their audiences.

But the story doesn't end there. Work is now well underway to expand the space. A "reality" project for the post-digital age, the new GNU/linux based video and computer based arts center promotes alongside a set of resources, programmes development environment and education advancements an overt and unprecedented dedication to OPEN SOURCE philosphy via new and emerging forms of creativity.
